Our History

L’Aramon Gourmand was created in October 2005 by their new owners Nathalie and Philippe Coste who managed the restaurant called "Les Gourmands" in Paris for 10 years. This was the head office of all the Catalan associations in Paris area. For Philippe, who grew up in Coustouges, in the high Vallespir, it is a return to his roots and to his Catalan family.
Even if the restaurant location hasn't got an attractive outside, the couple bring some personal touches to make you welcome and this is very much appreciated by their customers as well as their cooking which is typical for the area.
The
most typical Catalan dish
has got his place in the menu : roast
pepper
with Collioure anchovies (recipe from Philippe's
grandmother). Philippe
cooks the duck in
various ways. As a filet in fricassee with olives
served with potatoes and small pieces of bacon with grapes in Armagnac
or in Parmentier with his foie gras hat. All these dishes can be served
in harmony with a wine form the Roussillonnaise cellar. In
fact, by
changing the Chef,
the 'Aramon" became
"Gourmand".
"It is a bit of our history which following us" explains
Nathalie.
